2016 All Star Meet

Parking Info: Parking Available in Pool lot and lined spaces in Field behind the pool (225 spaces)
Pool Driveway to Parking Opens at 6:30 AM
Gates to the Pool Open at 7:00 AM
Warm-Ups: Open Warm-Ups (Entire Pool) 7:15 - 8:15 AM
Meet Starts: 8:30 AM
 
IMPORTANT Parking INFO:

- Pool Driveway to Parking Opens at 6:30 a.m.
- The driveway will be one-way ONLY traffic to parking lot/field from 6:30 - 8:45 a.m.
- There will be a drop-off ZONE available along Old Line Ave. for anyone NOT ready to park when they arrive.
- No stopping along the driveway to unload. Please park FIRST then unload so we can keep traffic moving.
- Additional Parking on street parking, Maryland City Elementary School (3359 Crumpton South - 3 blocks from pool)
- Overflow parking on the field at Community UMC(do not use their parking lot, services occur on Saturday) - Flood plain trail to pool - 2 blocks
Important Venue INFO:

- Please bring your own chairs and canopies for shade. Some picnic tables will be available - NO Sitting or Standing on the Tables Tops please
- Canopies may be set up in the large field, volleyball court, basketball court or along the fence line around the pool (Except by the pavilion)
- Viewing ONLY areas designated in 3 areas (i.e., No Chairs or Tents - Standing Room Only) - Please pay attention and respect the signs
- Officials and Meet volunteers ONLY allowed on concrete deck around the pool (Entrance to bathrooms permitted - no standing on deck)

Good Morning to all

The coaching staff would like to thank all the parents who worked the meet and the parents, family and friends who sat in the heat yesterday and cheered for Kings Landing.

Divisional Meet-
We finished 5th yesterday out of 6 teams. MVP won the meet. It was an exciting day for all and we survived the heat.

I will not have the All Star list of swimmers until later this evening. Once I have the list, I must know ASAP if your swimmer will not be at ALL STARS.  For example our relay teams from Saturday will probably make it in the meet. This may be the only event for those swimmers. I can sub but I need to know by Tuesday.

The meet tomorrow will begin at 8:20 am. Our warm-ups will be earlier.Swimmers should be ready to swim warm-ups by 7:40 am.

Parents - do not park on the street. There should be parking lots available.
Divisional Meet -Entries will be based on swim times for next week-This is not the final list, names may be added or deleted. Line up will be posted on Sunday, July 17

We lost today by 10 points. I don't have the results.  Everyone did their best. We were missing many of the older swimmers but as always- everyone did their best. We had some amazing races!!


Tomorrow- guppy Meet at Smallwood Village Pool
Our entries are in and we have 23 swimmers attending.

Directions: From Capital Beltway, take exit 7A (Branch Avenue or Route 5 South) towards Waldorf. Once in Waldorf, make a left onto Smallwood Drive. Turn right on Stone Avenue. Take first left on Middleton Road to the pool.

I go down Route 231 , across the Benedict Bridge( I live in Huntingtown)

Next week is our last meet of our regular season.

Directions: From Capital Beltway take the Wisconsin Avenue exit toward Washington D.C. Follow Wisconsin Avenue through Bethesda and Chevy Chase. Turn right at Tenley Circle onto Nebraska Avenue and proceed through Ward Circle. Turn left at Foxhall Road. Follow Foxhall Road for 1.5 miles and turn right onto Whitehaven Parkway. Pool is on the right.

Divisional Meet
The top 2 swimmers in each event for the season will be swimming at the Divisional Meet. I can only take 1 relay team per event.
If your swimmer has been bringing home a lot of first and second place ribbons , he/she may be going to the Divisional Meet on July 23, 2016. Please send me and email or text on "Remind Me" if your swimmer will be away or at a club swim meet. I'd like to know by Tuesday who will not be at next Saturday's meet and who will not be able to attend the Divisional Meet.

My under 8 free A relay team will be going for example.
Carlson Labella has been a member of this relay team but is moving this week .  We will miss the Labella's and wish them well in their new home!

Remember to let me know ASAP if your swimmer will not be at our last home meet of the season this coming Saturday.

Great job on Saturday by all swimmers. Results will be coming. 

We have a large number of swimmers signed up to attend the guppy meet at Smallwood Village on Sunday, July 10.It will be a fun met for all.

No practice July 4th. We will be back to our regular practice schedule on Tuesday.
Morning practice 9 - 10:30, 10:30 - 11:30

Wednesday morning practice and then in the evening 5-6 pm with younger swimmers and 6- 7 :30 for theories swimmers.

Thursday morning usual time

Thursday evening-  6 - 7 for young swimmers, 6 - 7:30 for older swimmers.

Special thanks to all the parents who helped with the meet this past weekend from the set up crew,  meet workers, snack bar to our clean up crew!!

  Guppy Meet at Smallwood Village Swim Club!

Warm ups are at 7:30am and the meet begins at 8:30am.

This is a fun meet! Small prizes are given away during the morning events. the meet is usually over by 11:30. 6yr olds swim 6yr olds, 7yr olds swim 7 yr. olds and so on. All events are 25m.  Smallwood Pool is about 45 minutes away from Prince Frederick.


I need to know by Sunday evening if your 10 and younger swimmer is interested in swimming and the events.  The events are fly, back, breast and free. They will also have a 6 and under assisted free race.

Cost: $5.00 for one event, $9.00 for two, $12.00 for three and $15.00 for four events. You can give me cash or a check made out to Smallwood village Swim Club


 All pre-registered swimmers will be listed in the meet program.
 We can pre order t-shirts  ($13 for kids and $16 per shirt for adults) .

The meet ran very smoothly. We had great music, a nice guppy race and the league's best officials and Data crew. I never made it to the snack bar but I saw many walking tacos go by me yesterday. 

PLEASE PASS ALONG TO YOUR SWIMMERS-
It takes every team member to win a meet - don't ever think your swim in a race is not not important.


Next week we face Pointer Ridge, probably our most difficult meet. Swimmers are still making some simple mistakes and we will work on more on backstroke and breaststroke this week.

Remember we practice in the evening this week-
5 - 6 pm 10 and younger and 6 -7:30 pm for 11- 18

We will practice Friday morning.

WE WILL NOT PRACTICE ON THE 4TH OF JULY THIS YEAR!! ENJOY YOUR DAY.

Great meet on Saturday!  We have a home meet this Saturday and we need people to sign up to help with the meet.

I will send out the results soon from Saturday's meet . An X means the swimmer's time was recorded but was not counted in the meet score.


Practice this week every morning and on Wednesday and Thursday evening.


NEXT WEEK - Due to Cub Scout day camp, We will practice every from 5-7:30, except on Thursday. Thursday will be our regular schedule( 6-7:30)

No practice today - back your swim bags tonight!!

I will bring the swim caps with me tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow - here are a few items you need to know

Swimmers - please check in with Coach Kandy when you arrive. I have to turn in a list of  no show swimmers to the officials by 7:50 .
Be at the pool no later then 7:30 am- plan on 7:20 am. When my sons were young swimmers we would wrap them in blankets and put them in the car.

New members may register in May. They must have completed a swim evaluation before they register. Evaluations are held Monday's at 6PM at HAC.
