Thursday    all divisional swimmers from 9:30 - 10:30

Friday   9:30 - 10:45 approximately

Great job in Saturday.

Coming up this week-
We have 130 people coming to the end of the year swim party.

Many have not sent an  RSVP. We are buying water, paper plates, plastic ware based on 150 people attending.

We need 2-3 more timers for Divisionals. The other teams have supplied  almost all the workers. We do have a volunteer for Stroke and Turn, Sweeps judge and 2 timers.David Cole was selected by the division reps to be starter.


Thanks to all the swimmers this summer and the parents who drove them and volunteered at meets.

Saturday July 15

We are swimming against BBT but due to issues at their pool, we will be at BST
12728 Midwood Lane , Bowie

Be at the pool by 7:30. 

This is our last regular season meet. July 22 is our divisional meet. I can only enter the top 2 swimmers in each event from the season and 1 relay for each relay event. 

I will try and notify swimmers who will be swimming at  Divisionals by Friday, but I may need to wait for the times from the upcoming meet. 

Wednesday, July 19, is our end of the year picnic. Set up will be at 4:45pm. Swimmers arrive at 5pm. Dinner at 5:30, followed by awards. Clean up begins at 7:15pm


No one has volunteered to organize the picnic so this is what will happen-

Last name beginning with A - M - please bring a main dish that would feed many people
M - S  please bring a side dish
T- Z  dessert

Paper products, ice and drinks will be provided

The Week Ahead

Thanks to all our parent volunteers last Saturday! We get to do it again this coming Saturday!!

We won our first meet on Saturday. Great swims by all age groups.

Monday - Friday : Morning practices as usual

     This rarely happens... NO PRACTICE ON THE 4TH OF JULY

Wednesday evening practice 
    5 - 6 for younger swimmers
    6- to about 7:30 for 11 and older

Thursday evening
     Everyone begins at 6. Younger swimmers finish at 6:45 and older swimmers by 7:30

Sunday, July 9,2017
Guppy Meet for 10 and younger swimmers- entries due to me tomorrow. All events are 25yd swims.  6yr olds swim against 6 yr olds and so on for this meet. Swimmers can sigh up for free, back and if they know how to swim fly and breast, there are races.  Sign up tomorrow during practice.  It's a fun meet!

Meet #2  

We lost but the score does not reflect the quality of our swimmers. We have 140 swimmers registered for the team. 77 swimmers were in today's meet. We had too many events with 1 or 2 entered for the event or some events with no one.  

Next week is a home meet. We need swimmers to attend!  Tuesday evening at 6 there will be a parent meeting to discuss what is needed for a home meet.

Guppy Meet  -I will post the information at practice this week. Guppy meet is for 10 and younger . Entries swimmers. Entries due by July 2.

Practice begins today at 9:30 for older swimmers and 10:30 for younger swimmers.

June 16, 2017

The swimmers have been working very hard this week and , I hope, excited about tomorrow. We want tomorrow to fun for everyone. We have 90 Kings Landing Lionfish  ready to swim.  

Please encourage your swimmers. The coaching staff wants the kids to enjoy themselves but stll focus on their swimming.

Thanks to the parents who have volunteered for tomorrow. 

The weather is rather iffy for tomorrow. I need everyone to show up ready to swim. If it rains too hard , we will have to wait. If there is thunder and/or lighting, we will wait in our cars . If it lasts too long, the meet will be rescheduled with a good chance of the meet finishing either Monday or Thursday evening.  Bring rain gear, sweatshirts for your swimmers, and pop up tents if you have one.

Most Common Mistakes

DQ’s  walking in the water, rolling over on stomach to finish backstroke, 2 hand touch on breast and back  , backstroke turns, illegal kick breaststroke

6 swimmers per event, extra heats in Free and back

Tonight at Kings Landing Pool there will be an informational meeting- Summer Swim League 101.

Coach Matt will be giving information to the swimmers while I speak to the parents.

If you are new to summer swim team , please attend.

There will be 2 sessions
5-5:45  10 and younger  swimmers' parents
6- 6:45  11 and older  swimmers' parents

If you have swimmers in both groups, pick 1 session.

Practice tonight at HAC

Metro Swim Shop will have team suits, practice suits and goggles for sale tonight at HAC

Team members need a competition suit for meets . You may purchase a team suit, a green suit, a green and black suit or an all black suit.

I will have Kings Landing caps for everyone next week.

Evaluations are held Monday and Wednesday from 4:45 - 5:00 pm  or 6:45 pm on Mondays and 6:30 on Wednesdays.

  2017 Season Kings Landing Swim Team

Desperately need someone to attend the meeting Thursday evening at Laurel High School. Meeting begins at 7pm.  Can  someone please represent the team for 1 night?

Registration for last year's team members will begin April 16. Please register at HAC.

New swimmers- new swimmers must be evaluated

   Exceptions-

    Swam for a high school team

   Swam for a club team- CAC, NACC, CBAC, etc...

  Swam for a different summer league team last summer
