Thursday Night Information Night June 8



Parent information   2017
First meet is away  next Saturday at Smallwood Village Pool
Arrive by 7:20am
Have swimmers check in
Let me know by this coming Tuesday if your swimmer will not be at our first meet.
Meets- arrive, set up area
Kids warm up

Meet begins at 8:30  ends around 11:30– first event is Medley Relay
Workers at meet
Timers, Head timer, stroke and turn, sweeps judge, Ref/ Starter, Clerk of Course,
Team Rep on Deck,
Home meets= set up Friday night , 6:45 we meet
Snack Bar - 2 home meets them

Meets-
Swimmers report to clerk of course= Home meets we will have heat sheets, away meets, coaches will have   Heat Sheets- event, Heat, Lane
Swim event- return to parents
Relays- check before you leave

Most Common Mistakes
DQ’s  walking in the water, rolling over on stomach to finish backstroke, 2 hand touch on breast and back  , backstroke turns, illegal kick breaststroke
6 swimmers per event, extra heats in Free and back
WE do have team scores
Stay away from water during meet

Need water, snacks, shade, extra goggles

Tonight at Kings Landing Pool there will be an informational meeting- Summer Swim League 101.

Coach Matt will be giving information to the swimmers while I speak to the parents.

If you are new to summer swim team , please attend.

There will be 2 sessions
5-5:45  10 and younger  swimmers' parents
6- 6:45  11 and older  swimmers' parents

If you have swimmers in both groups, pick 1 session.

Practice tonight at HAC

Metro Swim Shop will have team suits, practice suits and goggles for sale tonight at HAC

Team members need a competition suit for meets . You may purchase a team suit, a green suit, a green and black suit or an all black suit.

I will have Kings Landing caps for everyone next week. 

Practice is optional tonight

4:30- 5:15   10 and younger
5:15 - 6:15  11 and older

Wednesday and Thursday - back to Kings Landing
NO practice this Friday

During the summer - please try and make 3 practices a week
Morning practices!  Monday - Friday
9 - 10:30  11 and older
10:30 - 11:30   10 and younger

Wednesday  evening
   5:00 - 5:45   10 and younger
   6- 7:30          11 and older

Thursday  all ages 
   6- 6:45 10 and younger

Our first meet is Saturday June 16 at Smallwood Village in Waldorf.   We will need timers, head timer, Team Rep on deck, sweep judge, Stroke and turn,
Starter/Ref, clerk of course and a few more.

Evaluations are held Monday and Wednesday from 4:45 - 5:00 pm  or 6:45 pm on Mondays and 6:30 on Wednesdays.

  2017 Season Kings Landing Swim Team


Desperately need someone to attend the meeting Thursday evening at Laurel High School. Meeting begins at 7pm.  Can  someone please represent the team for 1 night?


Registration for last year's team members will begin April 16. Please register at HAC.

New swimmers- new swimmers must be evaluated
   Exceptions-
    Swam for a high school team
   Swam for a club team- CAC, NACC, CBAC, etc...
  Swam for a different summer league team last summer

We need parent volunteers to run the computer at our home meets, stroke and turn officials, last years stroke and turn need to go for a refresher course.


Practice begins the Tuesday after Memorial Day-

Pool Driveway to Parking Opens at 6:30 AM
Gates to the Pool Open at 7:00 AM
Warm-Ups: Open Warm-Ups (Entire Pool) 7:15 - 8:15 AM
Meet Starts: 8:30 AM
 
IMPORTANT Parking INFO:

- Pool Driveway to Parking Opens at 6:30 a.m.
- The driveway will be one-way ONLY traffic to parking lot/field from 6:30 - 8:45 a.m.
- There will be a drop-off ZONE available along Old Line Ave. for anyone NOT ready to park when they arrive.
- No stopping along the driveway to unload. Please park FIRST then unload so we can keep traffic moving.
- Additional Parking on street parking, Maryland City Elementary School (3359 Crumpton South - 3 blocks from pool)
- Overflow parking on the field at Community UMC(do not use their parking lot, services occur on Saturday) - Flood plain trail to pool - 2 blocks
Important Venue INFO:

- Please bring your own chairs and canopies for shade. Some picnic tables will be available - NO Sitting or Standing on the Tables Tops please
- Canopies may be set up in the large field, volleyball court, basketball court or along the fence line around the pool (Except by the pavilion)
- Viewing ONLY areas designated in 3 areas (i.e., No Chairs or Tents - Standing Room Only) - Please pay attention and respect the signs
- Officials and Meet volunteers ONLY allowed on concrete deck around the pool (Entrance to bathrooms permitted - no standing on deck)
